Fragments of the 'Genjū-an Ki' Draft by Matsuo Bashō
After completing his journey of 'Oku no Hosomichi' (The Narrow Road to the Deep North), Bashō stayed at Genjū-an on Mt. Kokubun in Ōmi Province from April 6 to July 23, Genroku 3 (1690). The haibun written during his stay at Genjū-an is 'Genjū-an Ki,' and this manuscript is the opening portion of that earliest autograph draft. We can observe sections where Bashō himself made revisions.
