Special Exhibition 'Yamadera - Its Enduring History and Beauty, and Literature -'

October 13 - November 27 (Open daily during the exhibition period)

Yamadera (Hōjusan Risshakuji Temple), founded in Jōgan 2 (860),
achieved significant development under the patronage of successive Yamagata Castle lords,
and has long attracted widespread faith from both within and outside the prefecture as a leading temple in Tohoku. Meanwhile, Yamadera's unique landscape, woven by its unusual rock formations and cedar groves,
creates different atmospheres in each of the four seasons, inspiring writers and
artists.
This exhibition presents materials that tell the history of Yamadera,
along with paintings depicting the charming natural landscapes of Yamadera throughout the four seasons,
thereby introducing Yamadera's timeless appeal.
