Yokai are also called "mononoke," and various yokai, including oni (demons), tengu (long-nosed goblins), and kappa (water imps), appear in stories and paintings that have been passed down in Japan since ancient times.
How have "mononoke" and the otherworld been passed down and depicted in literature, paintings, and other art forms?

This exhibition introduces yokai from the Edo period to the present day. New works by Nihonga artist Kaneko Tomoyuki and Western-style painter Yasui Toshiya, among others, will also be on display, so
we invite you to visit!
