I've written this very, very simply, but it seems there are different manners depending on the school. I've tried to write about what I know (^_^;).
The illustrations might also be hard to understand, but I hope they can be of some reference.
Actually, even though I'm writing this, I once had an embarrassing experience shortly after joining the museum (^_^;).
I had absolutely no experience with tea ceremony, but the staff invited me to a tea gathering...
With a pounding heart, I somehow managed to partake in the tea by imitating others. But the moment I stood up to leave... I fell flat onto the tatami mats il||li (*´・д・)
...My legs were quite numb (^_^;)
Aaaah! How embarrassing (≧-≦*)
At that time, the tea ceremony teacher in charge gently comforted me, saying, "It's alright. Take your time. Please come again, don't let this discourage you." But... was it pity? (^_^;) I was so embarrassed. Since even I managed to go somehow, everyone, please feel free to come to a tea gathering (^-^)v
By the way, the Citizens' Tea Gathering will start from April. At that tea gathering, a tea ceremony master will prepare tea authentically in a tatami tea room, so please try it out once. (Details will be posted on the website as soon as the schedule is decided.)
If you're thinking, "I'm not really keen on something so formal...", please come to the Bashodo on weekdays, where we serve matcha (^-^). It's a Ritsurei-seki (standing-style seating, meaning you sit on chairs...).
