Special Exhibition: Bashō's World as Seen in Paintings — The Journeys and Haikai of a Wandering Poet —

"To the Journey of 'Oku no Hosomichi'" by Sakata San, 2014; "Tenka Gankei (Heavenly Flower Rock View)" by Takahashi Genkichi, 1911

June 15 - July 17 (Open daily during the exhibition period)

Matsuo Bashō's journeys and haikai during the Edo period have inspired the creative endeavors of various artists in later generations,
resulting in expressions through paintings and other art forms. This exhibition showcases works depicting Bashō's haiku, "Oku no Hosomichi,"
and other related themes. Through this, we hope you can virtually re-experience the landscapes and travel emotions Bashō witnessed,
reflect on his journeys, and fully appreciate his imaginative haikai.
